From Kean University in 1975 to 160+ chapters across the nation — and our own Epsilon Beta story.
On December 1, 1975, at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, a group of Latino men came together with a shared vision: to create an organization that would empower, unite, and uplift Latino men in higher education — an organization that was truly theirs.
Lambda Theta Phi became the first and largest Latino fraternity in the United States, built on the foundation that Latino men deserved a space that honored their heritage, demanded their excellence, and connected them for life.
The fraternity spread rapidly — from New Jersey to campuses across the country — growing to 160+ undergraduate chapters and 30+ alumni chapters nationwide, each carrying the same promise: brotherhood without boundaries, service without limits.
On February 25, 2024, five founding brothers came together at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and planted the Lambda Theta Phi flag in Chattanooga for the first time. What they built that Spring semester became the Epsilon Beta Chapter — a chapter born from intentionality, courage, and an unshakeable belief that UTC needed what Lambda had to offer.
These five men didn't wait for someone else to create the space. They were the space. They navigated the chartering process, built relationships with national, and laid the foundation for every brother who would follow. The legacy of Epsilon Beta begins with them.
Spring 2025. Five founders. One chapter. A brotherhood that will outlast all of us.

Our chapter continues to grow, serve, and lead — building on the legacy of every brother who came before us, and creating a legacy for every brother to come.
The Epsilon Beta Chapter was founded on February 25, 2024 by five men at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. They saw the need for a strong Latino fraternal presence on campus and chose to build it themselves — from the ground up, in a single semester.
What began as five founders in Spring 2024 has grown into a chapter with a clear identity, a growing brotherhood, and deep roots in the UTC community. Every brother who has joined since stands on the foundation those five men built.
Our history is not just dates and names. It is the late nights studying together, the early mornings at service events, the moments of brotherhood forged in shared purpose. It belongs to every man who has ever worn our letters — starting with the five who made it possible.
